About Shawnee

From The Colorist magazine, circa 2014-ish.

I am Shawnee Heltsley, a small-town girl from Southern Illinois who has worked her way to the level of National Artist for Farouk Systems, working coast-to-coast at hair shows and in educational settings. I have been honored, recognized, and awarded with, among others, “Excellence in Education” and two consecutive nominations for “Top 30 Colorists Under the Age of 30”. In 2018, I worked Charleston Fashion Week, Charleston Bridal Show (where I launched my wedding and event styling company Dolled Up Charleston, LLC), and as a personal stylist for a Miss South Carolina pageant contestant.

I have also received several mentions in the industry’s most recognizable magazines and online social media outlets—check out my tips and tricks in Women's Health Magazine! And check out my mentions on Estetica Magazine, StyleCaster, and Fashion Focus.net!

With twelve years of experience in the hair industry and nearly ten years with Farouk Systems, I serve as a mentor behind the chair, in the classroom, and onstage in big cities to small towns, always staying true to my roots.

My goal is to inspire and share my knowledge with stylists on how to take things to the next level of creativity, how to encourage them to step outside their comfort zone, and enlighten them by showing and teaching the latest tricks, techniques, and products. “Think Outside the Box” is the motto I have carried with me throughout my career in order to create bold hair—and always be a fearless artist. And when it comes to my clients, not only do I strive to give them the best possible experience, but I also share my knowledge with them so they know how to get the most out of their time in—or out of—my chair.

Stop on in and experience it for yourself!
